Nursing Careers

Be the individual patients and families remember as the kindest in the room. Provide answers—for questions medical and otherwise. And recognize that sometimes, being a great nursing professional really means being a great person.

That’s the opportunity and the responsibility we offer at Hospital Sisters Health System, where you get to treat patients with the highest quality of care and get to know them as real people with real issues, hopes, fears, and potential for success.

This is a place where the personal relationships you build can extend far beyond the workspace, creating satisfying ties to the community for generations to come.

Together, we’re making a difference.

Serving as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department several years ago was an extremely valuable and memorable experience that I have taken with me throughout my career. As the President and CEO of Hospital Sisters Health System, I feel honored and humbled to lead such a talented group of hospital and nurse leaders across our 15 hospitals and affiliated physician groups. Our nurses are vital to the patient experience and are making a clear difference in the quality and well-being of our patients’ lives.

We couldn’t be more proud of their dedication. Each HSHS nurse has a compelling story to share regarding how their work directly impacts a patient, and how HSHS helps them achieve their career goals and dreams.

If you are a nurse looking to make a difference, please consider that HSHS provides exceptional benefits, a supportive work environment, and a firm commitment to help you grow and reach your most aspiring career goals.

We are here to support you and our patients. We hope you’ll consider joining our team.

Our Nursing Culture

At Hospital Sisters Health System, our words and actions are guided by our mission and nursing vision. Here are the principles that we live day-in and day-out as we go about providing care of the highest quality:

Mission: To reveal and embody Christ’s healing love for all people through our high-quality Franciscan health care ministry.

Nursing Vision: Leading the way with passion, quality and excellence.

Franciscan Inspired Care: A Care-Delivery Model That Engages the Patient

Hospital Sisters Health System is privileged to be entrusted with the care of our patients and their families. We will honor that trust by placing the patient at the center of everything we do and by providing high-quality care consistently and reliably. We will attend to patient needs across the care continuum by helping well persons stay well, by keeping persons out of the hospital when care can be provided safely and appropriately in another care setting, by taking meticulous care of hospitalized patients, and by assisting patients optimally after hospitalization and returning them to a state of wellness whenever possible.

We serve with Core Values that express our Franciscan spirit:
• Respect: Build relationships
• Competence: Be reliable
• Care: Connect compassionately
• Joy: Show recognition

We respect the dignity of each patient, and the needs and priorities of our patients and their families.

Every colleague will be empowered to own their work and practice to further our healing ministry.

Following in the footsteps of St. Francis, we will bring the healing presence of Jesus Christ to all and be present in the moment with our patients and our colleagues.

Holistic care of our patients—mind, body and spirit—is a hallmark of our Franciscan healing ministry.

Respectful relationships with self, colleagues, patients and community are integral to high-quality health care delivery. In addition, accountability is through relationships as well as professional standards.

We will provide the structure and systems to support a care delivery model that engages the patient.

Ongoing colleague education promotes competence, confidence and personal commitment.

Evidence-based standards will be used to measure our high-quality care.

We are just stewards of our human, material and natural resources.
